Frequently Asked Questions

We're glad you're here. Getting prepared is one of the most loving things you can do for your family.

What is the Operation Prepare Binder?

The Operation Prepare Binder is an 80+ page, federally-informed emergency preparedness system created by Brandi Richard Thompson, a Former Federal Emergency Management Official with 20+ years of experience. It's organized into 8 sections covering everything from family emergency contacts and insurance documentation to hazard-specific playbooks and go-bag checklists. It's the system that translates what federal insiders know into a practical family guide.

How is this different from free preparedness checklists online?

Most free checklists give you a list of supplies to buy. This binder gives you an entire system. It includes the documentation framework that insurance adjusters and FEMA inspectors actually need to process your claims. It includes FEMA Insider Notes from real disaster experience—information that the general public typically doesn't learn until after disaster strikes. And it addresses the areas most checklists completely ignore: digital resilience, insurance deep-dives, mental health preparedness, and long-term recovery planning.

Does my purchase include digital access?

Yes. Your purchase of the Operation Prepare Binder includes access to the Digital Course Companion, which features video walkthroughs and expanded guidance for each section. Access is emailed as soon as your order is confirmed, so you can start preparing immediately while your physical binder ships.

How long does shipping take?

Orders ship Monday through Friday with tracking provided. Domestic US orders ship free (we've built shipping into our pricing). International orders ship via standard carrier with fees calculated at checkout. International orders may be subject to import duties and taxes billed separately by your local jurisdiction.

Can I ship to a P.O. Box?

We are currently unable to ship to P.O. Boxes. Please provide a physical street address for delivery.

Is this relevant for families outside the US?

The core principles—documentation, communication plans, go-bags, hazard awareness—are universal. However, the binder is specifically designed with US-based families in mind, including FEMA processes, US insurance systems, and domestic hazard playbooks. International families will still find significant value in the framework.

How long does it take to complete the binder?

The binder includes a decision tree based on your available time. 30 minutes gets you the Master Family Sheet and emergency contacts. 2 hours covers the most critical sections. A full day lets you work through the majority. We recommend a 6-week pace: one section per week. But even a partially completed binder is infinitely better than no preparation at all.

What if I'm not sure where to start?

Start with Section II: the Family Information Command Center. It's the quickest section to complete (60–90 minutes), has the highest immediate impact, and requires information you already know. The binder's decision tree on Page 7 will guide you from there.
